As a service provider , the Bank focuses its development on the needs of society as a whole. At the core of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy are human values, the environment and the social and cultural development of the country.

Alpha Bank contributes to the development of Cyprus by supporting social movements, organizing educational campaigns as well as backing bodies which organize important cultural events. As a consequence it invests in raising the standard of living of the wider social group and frequently sponsors a large number of Social and Cultural groups, Institutions, Organizations, Hospitals and Churches among others.

Some of the Bank’s actions which are part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy are outlined below:

  • Signing up to the European Road Safety Charter which was created by the EU in 2004 and aims to reduce road accidents within Europe. EU member states including Cyprus have adopted the Charter’s goal to reduce the number of road casualties by 50%.

  • Some of the Bank’s initial commitments included :
    • Training Seminars for all staff that drive company cars , including bi - annual car checks, regular tire inspections and eye tests.
    • Educational seminars for all staff in association with the ministry of Communications and Works with the option for customers or the general public to attend.
    • Printing Informational leaflets which were sent to customers with their monthly statements explaining the Bank’s association with the Charter and offering tips for safer driving .

  • In 2011 Alpha Bank partly sponsored a children’s story titled “Safe Travel” with the aim to help children improve their road awareness. The idea for the publication belonged to the Initiative Team on Road Safety which is comprised by victims of road accidents. The publication aimed to educate the young early on and sensitize them on matters of road conduct and safety. The Story book was distributed to about 40.000 preschool and middle school students in both private and public elementary and secondary schools. The text for the story was written by educator Mrs. Elena Perikleous, Health and Safety Instruction Advisor to the Ministry of Education.
  • Also in 2011 Alpha Bank took part in the “European Night for Road Safety” which takes place every year on the 3 rd Saturday of October in all European Union Countries. In Cyprus the event was coordinated by REACTION , Youth for the Prevention Group. The evening’s main aim is to prevent serious or deadly accidents and to inform young drivers about the dangers of drunk driving. In 2011 the “European Night for Road Safety” took place on the 15 th of October 2011 in Nicosia and Limassol with the help of two volunteer groups from the Bank but also from other companies which met outside several bars and clubs in both cities and conducted friendly breathalyzer tests while offering useful information to young attendants on the dangers of drunk driving.
  • The annual sponsorship of the Cyprus Kidney Association “Information and Prevention Awareness Week”. The awareness week aims to raise money in support of the association.
  • The Bi-annual Blood Drive which is organised by the staff of Alpha Bank in cooperation with the Ministry of Health aiming to assist the Cyprus Blood Bank.
  • The Annual Cyprus Red Cross Christmas Bazaar which is sponsored by Alpha Bank and raises money for families in need.
  • The Annual Open Career Day organised by the University of Cyprus in which the Bank participates in order to inform students about career opportunities in Cyprus.
  • The Alpha Bank Euro awareness Campaign, a nationwide campaign, aimed at informing and familiarising Cypriots with the new currency a year before its introduction.

  • Alpha Bank also contributes and financially supports several social groups and entities such as Educational Foundations, Municipalities, Communities, Medical Organisations, Cultural and Athletic Entities as well as several Charitable Organisations. 

CUSTOMERS / SUPPLIERS 

Alpha Bank places great importance on offering high quality products and services to its customers and aims to meet and fulfill their needs and expectations.

Because Customer Opinion is very important to us, the Bank maintains a special “Complaint Handling Committee”. The Committee consists of specially trained staff who have the necessary expertise in customer relations and who are proactive when it comes to dealing with any possible complaints. Customers have the choice to submit their complaints either orally or in writing (by post, e-mail, or by filling in a form which can be found in any of our branches). The Committee handles the complaints and replies to customers professionally and immediately.

As far as suppliers are concerned, the Bank aims to only cooperate with suppliers who are socially responsible, use superior raw materials and offer quality products and services meeting certain high standards.
